The Hugging Game

I thought that this was a fun little story y'all might like. Yesterday I was cleaning up the house (which looks great by the way) and I finished sweeping our porch and taking out the trash. As I came into the house, John came up to me and gave me a big hug. Marissa was a few feet away in the kitchen and John went to her and gave her a hug. John then came back to me and gave me a hug again. Then he got to thinking... mabey I can do both at the same time. He took a hold of my pants and dragged me to Marissa where he took a hold of her pants and pulled us together so we hugged. Then he hugged us both. We went thru this for a few rounds till John got tired of it. Marissa and I didn't get tired of it though. lol. Lots of hugs in the Hughett household.

We have been working with John on the terms Up and Down. He likes to use the word UP for getting both up and down. Crazy little guy. He has also been yelling a lot. I hear that is normal for his age but boy does it get old fast.

This last week was a stressful one. I had 3 major tests at school. One of which was worth 1/3 of my grade I have been stressing all week long and when it was all said and done, I did good. Whew! Boy am I glad thats over. I still have plenty to do but that was too much to cram in one week. Today is looking sooo good and might get up to 57 degrees. I skipped my one class today (forgot what time it was really and missed it) and we are going to go to the park with Rachael and Jordon. It will be fun.

So I better get off the computer and get out the door! Too good a day to waste.

Early Mornings

This morning John woke up really early. I heard him playing around in his room and went in there to lay him back down so he would sleep longer. When I walked in he was standing on the hope chest by the window and was in between the window and the blinds watching the early morning traffic on the road. I had to laugh. I laid him back down but he never really went to sleep. He is also having a hard time getting to sleep during his nap. I think it is because he doesn't have his binky. I will be strong though. He has to learn to sleep without it sometime. I just wish that I had taken it away earlier.

Brad and I never like changing Johns stinky diapers and are always trying to get the other person to do it. We usually play evens or odds (its like rock paper scissors but holding up fingers and adding the two numbers on both the contenders hands; someone calls evens or odds and who ever is right wins) but lately we have been playing the Wii to determine the winner. I think I need to practice more because I have been changing more stinky diapers than Brad. I think the diapers smell stinkier every time I lose and have to change them.

We also want to send a little hug out to our little cousin Kali who is battling with RSV right now. Since we can't hug you in person we will send you a little cyber-hug. We love you and hope that you feel better soon.

No More Binky

First I have to admit that I love John's binky. I think that I rely on it more than he does. This is the case with most things. It always takes me longer than John to adjust to a change in the routine. We have known since we moved here that it was time to take the binky away but kept making excuses for holding on to it longer. For the last couple of months we only let John have it at bedtime, during church, and at the doctors office. Last night when we put him down for bed we couldn't find the binky anywhere and so we decided that we should just take it away. John cried for a couple of minutes and then fell asleep. Today he fell asleep in the car when we were taking Brad to school and that took care of him not having it during the nap. John only really seemed bothered by the loss when he woke up in the middle of the night. Brad and I just let him cry himself back to sleep, which he did in under 3 minutes. John is going to be fine. He always breezes through changes. Now we just have to work on Brad and I adjusting to a louder child during church.

This baby in the belly has been SUPER active the last three days. I am always getting kicked in the side, punched in the gut, or kicked in the bladder (which means immediate trip to the bathroom before one more kick will cause loss of bladder control; this hasn't happened to me yet, but I have heard stories). Brad gets super excited every time he feels the baby punch or kick pretty hard. I am always surprised that something just over a pound can be so strong.

Just a side note: There is no way that this picture can be real but I think it is a cool picture anyway.

A good day

Well today I had a good day, and it's only Noon! To start the day off I had my racquetball class. I dominated 3 games and then the teacher came in. We played 1-out. That means that we have 3 players but one of us doesn't play and stays on the back wall until they rotate in after a point or change of servers. He spotted me and the other player 10 points and he started off at zero. Let me tell you...he is good. Really good. He held back a little in that he didn't do kill shots very often. Long story short I won! 3 of the 5 points were from the other player though. The final point I scored on the teacher. That was soooooo much fun. Last time we played the teacher ONLY did lob shots and we never had a chance to even serve. So thats my story about that. I won aginsed the teacher who spotted me 10 points. Final score between me and him was 15-13. *Side note though. I did get clocked in my jaw by a very fast ball during the game. Ouch!*

The other news is that I took a test and I flew thru it. Seemed very easy to me. So that is good. I was a little worried about how this teacher tested. Now i'm not as worried. Yea! Now I need to keep this day going good. I have two more tests this week and they both won't be as easy as this one was. So I guess it's time to hit the books again.
----------------------------------------------------------

Marissa has had one active little guy in her belly. I felt a huge kick or headbutt from this little one today. He had been super active. John has also been active, at being a butt. He is one whiner baby the last couple of days. He learned the word "NO" and its meaning and uses it all the time. Its been driving us crazy. We hope that when the new baby comes that it's first word is something other than NO. Well other than that, not much to report on. Marissa and I might play some Nintendo Wii for a bit then who knows.

Well I hope you all have a great day!

Another New Family Website

We know how much you all love it when we change websites so we did it again. We liked having a site at MyFamily.com but it has been brought to our attention that we are so popular and people are so excited to keep up with our lives that we have changed to Blogger so that anyone can see what we are up to. The only downside is that we won't have a place to post our videos but never fear because we do have an account to YouTube and so we can just send you all over there to check out our new videos. Thanks to Johnna who gave us the website for the awesome backgrounds that her and Chris and Tami and Caleb use. Now we can be cool too.

On to the updates:
I (Marissa) am feeling super sore after a week of our new Wii. I talked Brad into buying one (it wasn't that hard because he is a gamer anyway) and I have been playing it everyday. It gives me more of a work out than I would have thought. My arms ache all day from all those games. We have been trying to invite our friends and family over to play on it because it is so much more fun with more people but everyone we know is either swamped with school work or dying of some sickness. During the night I have dreams that I am playing the Wii or that I am using the Wii remote to do chores around the house. I told Brad and he laughed at me. I think maybe I need to take a day off but I am having too much fun. Even John loves it. He laughs every time that we bowl especially every time the ball hits the pins. I think that I like it more when I have to limit the time I can use it to when John is napping or asleep for the night but I manage to sneak it in when John is too consumed with his toys to play with me. Other than the Wii, the pregnancy is going very well. The baby is active and I finally have my appetite and energy back. My belly is getting bigger everyday and I swear that today it was at least an inch bigger than when I went to sleep last night. John is very loving with the belly and gives it lots of hugs and kisses. He will be a great big brother.

Brad is doing well. He is so busy with school and has a pretty hard semester. He is still able to get together with his friends once a week and de-stress with gaming. I am glad that he has something fun to look forward to every week. His job is a great one where he only works the weekend graveyard shifts so he has the whole workweek off and gets off right before church on Sundays. I think that he is really looking forward to spring break when he will finally get a day off. We will hopefully be going to Moscow for spring break and we are very eager to see Brad's parents, especially his mom. We haven't seen Cheryl since we moved away last June. We really miss them.

Well, hopefully this blog works good and we will be able to stay in touch with more people. Hope you all are doing well.
